Checklist
Day-before interview checklist
This is for the evening before an interview, when most of your preparation is already done and the goal is to remove surprises and protect your sleep. Allow about 90 minutes in total, spread across the evening. Tick items as you go; your ticks stay on this device.
Your ticks are saved only in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Why this order
The review comes first while you are fresh, and it is deliberately short: reading notes you already wrote is far more useful the night before than writing new material, and trying to learn a lot at night tends to raise anxiety without helping recall. Logistics come next because avoidable problems, such as a wrong address or a failed video link, cost more than an imperfect answer. The wind-down is last on purpose. Sleep is part of preparation, and one short night is usually survivable, but a calm evening makes the next morning easier.
If you find yourself wanting to keep working after the list is done, ask whether more work will improve tomorrow or only calm your nerves. If it is the second, a short walk or stretch is a better use of the time. If nerves are severe or persistent and affect your daily life, talk to a doctor or a qualified professional; this checklist is general preparation advice and not a substitute for that.
Where this comes from
The checklist condenses this site's guide to the night before an interview, which in turn reflects widely repeated interview-preparation advice from university career centres: confirm logistics, review rather than cram, and arrive rested. The timings are rough guides, not measured figures. Adjust them to your own schedule, and move everything earlier if the interview is early in the day.
